We have adopted "Eight Privacy Principles" to guide us in dealing with consumer information. We have also outlined other procedures, which we have designed to protect your privacy.

You should note that we cannot accept communications from someone claiming to represent you, unless the party acting for you is your attorney, guardian, trustee or is otherwise authorized by law to represent you.

1. Recognition of a Member's Expectation of Privacy. RIO Grande Operating Credit Union recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of our members.

2. Use, Collection and Retention of Member Information. RIO Grande Operating Credit Union will collect, retain, and use information about individual members in an appropriate and reasonable fashion. We generally limit our collection, retention and use of information we deem necessary or appropriate to administer your accounts to provide member services, to offer products to you, to make opportunities available to you, and to fulfill legal and regulatory requirements.

3. Maintenance of Accurate Information. RIO Grande Operating Credit Union has established procedures to help ensure that your financial information is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards.

4. Limiting Employee Access to Information. RIO Grande Operating Credit Union limits employee access to personally identifiable information to those with a business reason for knowing such information. Credit Union employees are personally responsible for maintaining our member's confidence in RIO Grande Operating Credit Union.

5. Information Security Safeguards. Access to member information is limited to those who specifically need it to conduct their business responsibilities, and we use appropriate security techniques designed to protect your financial information.

RIO Grande Operating Credit Union will not reveal specific information about member accounts or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except for the exchange of information with reputable information reporting agencies to maximize the accuracy and security of such information or in the performance of bona fide due diligence, unless: (1) the information is provided to help complete a member initiated transaction; (2) the member requests it; (3) the disclosure is required by/or allowed by law (e.g., subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, etc.); or (4) the member has been informed about the possibility of disclosure for marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication and is given the opportunity to decline (i.e., "opt out").

Use of our Web Site. We do not store confidential or sensitive information through the use of cookies. Our use of cookies enhances our member's online transactions and eases navigation through our web site. For certain applications, such as e-Branch, cookies are required to help protect the privacy of a member's transactions by, for example, terminating the session if the member forgets to log out. We use E-mail addresses from members who request electronic services, and from users of our web site who choose to provide their addresses.

Modification. We reserve the right to modify, change or amend this Member Privacy Policy and Agreement at any time without notice other than as expressly required by applicable law.

What Members can do to help. Protect your account numbers, card numbers, PINs (personal identification numbers), and passwords. In particular, never keep your PIN with your debit card or credit card, as that makes you vulnerable in the event you lose your card or your card is stolen. Use caution in revealing account numbers, social security numbers, etc. to other persons. In particular, if a caller tells you he/she is calling you on behalf of the credit union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Legitimate credit union staff would already have access to that information. It is important that the credit union has current information about how to reach you. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know.
